The original tile covering the walls of the bath was stripped and only left around the bathtub. To bring more light into what used to be a cave-like space, a skylight, chandelier and enormous mirror were added, which immediately opened up the bathroom. Travertine floors, tumbled marble shower walls and granite countertops were installed.
This master suite was recently completely redone with new white oak flooring, bedroom furnishings and a new bathroom. The color palette and furnishings all contribute to a sense of calm and privacy. Linens on the iron bed complement the Benjamin Moore “Beach Glass” walls. Matching nightstands flank the bed and give it a formal sense of balance. The nightstands have acrylic pedestal lamps and mirrors above. The Oriental area rug with pastel colors is handmade. Opening off the bedroom, a deck provides a cozy outdoor seating area. The original deck was a small, dark space with a seven-foot ceiling. To open it up, the roofline was extended and the ceiling vaulted. The floor is a weather-resistant Trex floor, and the slate lamps are designed to withstand any weather.
