While many are drawn to bluff-side locations for unbeatable views, these often pose unique architectural situations. “One of the main challenges of this build was positioning the unique landscape and rock formations on the brow of the mountain lot,” explains builder Larry Waldrep, “taking the vision from paper to completed build while making sure the architectural details stayed intact.”
With some problem-solving, obstacles become features. Rocky outcrops that punctuate the lawn work in tandem with the house’s stonework, anchoring the stately façade. To create a variety of visual interest, the exteriors combine stone with siding and stucco in high contrast between light and dark surfaces.
