Among the many aspects that bring the home’s design to life, a prominent theme is the use of vibrant hues – one in particular. “The homeowners absolutely love chartreuse,” Kopet shares, “and the colors, while bold, unfold upon each other through the home, inviting you along from space to space.” The dining area is a perfect example of this synergy, with a striking mix of modern furniture displayed amidst more traditional, vivid shades that bring liveliness to the forefront of the design – from the chartreuse showcased in the drapes and décor to floral burgundy wallpaper. “We worked to increase the energy of this paper by using carefully selected ceiling and trim colors to create balance and added chartreuse draperies to bring the dining room and living room vibrancy together,” says Kopet.

From the sage-green cabinetry that anchors the kitchen in subdued serenity to the gold trim and rattan accents that layer tactile warmth against crisp surfaces, every element unfolds with thoughtful continuity. The sleek green island, crowned with subtle veining in the stone countertop, adds grounding contrast. A divided-light window bathes the space in soft, natural light, while stainless-steel appliances create a deliberate, graphic counterpoint. Tucked between the kitchen and dining area, a cozy banquette beneath an illuminating muntin window invites moments of casual gathering, adding comfort to function.

“Green quickly became the neutral for the house and we used it to continue the homeowners’ goal of ‘twisted traditional’ in the kitchen. Globe lighting tight to the ceiling kept the visual space uncluttered while adding a hint of bistro-style charm. The banquette adds an easy perch to read the paper or have brunch on the weekends.” –Ryan Kirk Kopet, Miles and Kirk Design LLC

A vibrant display of cerulean blues surrounds an antique Persian rug, drawing the eye into the sitting room. Purposely designed to serve both as a cozy retreat for family lounging and a creative hub for play, the space embodies the home’s signature balance of livable luxury and intentional design. Here, storied textiles and tailored furnishings converge to create a room that feels as sophisticated as it is spirited.
Family-friendly furniture in durable Perennials fabric and forgiving stripes sit atop the antique rug, while sculptural side tables and curated artwork reflect the home’s broader palette. The room masterfully draws together the colors used throughout the house, creating a polished yet approachable space that feels harmonious, collected, and cosmopolitan.

Stepping through a French blue wooden door into a color-drenched parlor, the main living room is a true reflection of the homeowners’ creative vision. “We found a chartreuse that pushed over more to the vibrant side – exotic lime – and mixed styles and time periods to develop a lived-in feel,” says Kopet. Building on the foundation of the homeowners’ cherished heirlooms, the Miles and Kirk team elevated the space with a diverse mix of furnishings and finishes – pairing Louis XVI chairs with the playful edge of a 1970s-style acrylic coffee table. Unexpected interplays of bold colors, sculptural silhouettes, and art-forward pieces allow the room’s authenticity and originality to shine.

The cohesiveness of the primary bedroom and bathroom was a carefully orchestrated collaboration among the design team. “In keeping with the bedroom, we worked to create a serene space for the bathroom that still felt alive by playing with light,” Kopet explains. “By ceiling mounting the mirrors, we created visual depth and shadows that help the space feel intentional and not flat. The louvered window treatments also helped us to play with light and shadows in the moody space.”
In the bedroom, layered textures – plush upholstery, silk shams, and alpaca throws – create a restful retreat while the bathroom features a freestanding tub tucked into an alcove, complemented by a glass-enclosed shower. Underfoot, checkered tile flooring adds richness and anchors the luxurious yet grounded atmosphere.

Once again, eye-catching florals make an appearance – though this time in shades of petal pink throughout the daughter’s bedroom. Pops of green emerge from a pleated lampshade and playful throw pillows layered atop a window seat. Together, they echo the serpentine green pattern of the wallpaper and the blue-green custom closets lining the opposite wall.
Connected through a crisp gray-and-white bathroom, the continuity of design is elevated by a plush pink wool pile rug featuring an abstract animal print and a pale pink ceiling. The result achieves the intended goal of timeless femininity: sophisticated, whimsical, and effortlessly tied to the home’s greater narrative.

Throughout each space in this home, the goal has been individuality and functionality. With both homeowners working from home, this room was no exception. Originally a sunroom, the Miles and Kirk team transformed the area into a serene, fully functional workspace while maintaining sightlines into the adjoining playroom and living room. Deep forest-green painted floors ground the room, while a sage-green and chartreuse flatweave rug adds softness without distracting from the minimalist furnishings. Subtle brass hardware ties it visually to the rest of the home, while the layered green palette creates cohesion.
In the end, this home is a celebration of contrast – bold yet livable, eclectic yet elegant – with every detail working together to create a space that feels deeply personal, functional, and expressively beautiful.
