Crafting a Signature Statement

As the company’s model home, this project was designed to showcase the Cain Development team’s highest level of workmanship, while simultaneously demonstrating the warmth and comfort that defines its custom homes.

Josh Cain, partner at Cain Development, shares, “The main goal of the project was to create a home that truly reflected who we are as a custom mountain builder – showcasing the level of detail, craftsmanship, and unique custom features that define our work. At the same time, it was important that the home feel warm, inviting, and inspirational, allowing everyone who walks through it to not only admire the design, but envision the experience of living there.”

From room to room, thoughtful layouts and carefully curated materials highlight the team’s expertise. Layered textures add visual interest, while the earthy color scheme was chosen to connect the interior spaces to the outdoors.

“The color palette was inspired by the natural surroundings, pulling tones directly from the stone, wood, and landscape to create a warm, cohesive feel throughout the home,” says Lynnze Petty, designer at Cain Development. “We paired soft neutrals with moodier accents to add depth and contrast while still keeping the overall aesthetic clean, timeless, and elevated.”

The repeated blend of rustic beauty and modern luxury is apparent in the kitchen. Natural stones walls provide texture and warmth, complementing abundant custom cabinetry and a large central island lined with modern, upholstered barstools.

“The kitchen is one of the standout spaces in the home, with warm wood cabinetry, high-end appliances, a custom metal vent hood, and copper gas lanterns used both inside and out to create a soft, welcoming glow,” Stinson shares.

The space is outfitted with premium Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, concrete-inspired quartz countertops, and thick mitered island tops with custom architectural detailing. Additionally, a walk-in pantry adds an extra layer of thoughtful organization to elevate the kitchen experience.

Petty adds, “The pantry combines beauty and function with two-tone cabinetry, open shelving, rollouts for organization, and integrated accent lighting that adds a soft ambient glow throughout the space.”

The home’s gathering areas maintain an opulent narrative. The team focused on an expert blend of styles to introduce spaces that exude elegance without sacrificing comfort.

“We blended traditional and modern influences with subtle nods to industrial elements through architectural details, mixed metals, and statement features that add depth and character,” says Petty.

Chocolate brown tones drench the living room, where a suede sectional sofa and acacia wood coffee table create a welcoming arrangement. Soft lighting and layered textures add warmth, reinforcing the home’s balance of sophistication and practicality.

The dining room showcases a carefully curated mix of furnishings and is anchored by a contemporary dining set that features a dark wood table with a deep green chevron-patterned base and cream upholstered chairs with a curved barrel design.

Separating the two rooms is a striking double-sided custom fireplace that serves as an architectural centerpiece. Flanked by substantial columns clad in natural stone, the structure integrates a floating stone hearth for a dramatic flair. A chemically aged metal surround introduces a soft industrial patina, balancing the warmth of the stone with a subtle, industrial edge. Its see-through firebox seamlessly connects the living and dining areas, maintaining a welcoming, open atmosphere.

 

 

 

The signature color scheme continues into the meticulously crafted primary suite, which is swimming in plush textiles, lavish finishes, and rich earth tones. A brown suede bed frame steals focus, while a statement ribbed-glass chandelier draws the eye overhead. Coordinated floral patterns add depth and softness to the space.

The adjoining en suite embraces a tranquil, modern atmosphere with sleek concrete elements, including a vanity countertop and freestanding soaking tub. Underfoot, gray tile ties together the clean lines and calming palette of this spa-like space.

The wood coffered ceiling in the primary suite and the hallway wood paneling add richness and architectural character, while the floating staircase creates a striking statement that blends modern design with timeless materials.”

A guest room featuring custom arched bunks and designer wall sconces offers a memorable stay for visitors, while outdoor features such as a hot tub, putting green, and fully equipped outdoor kitchen invite homeowners and guests alike to embrace the “mountain retreat experience” the Cain Development team envisioned.

“We have always wanted a model home that truly reflected who we are as builders and designers – a home that felt personal to our team and showcased the level of creativity, craftsmanship, and detail we pour into every project,” says Jordan Cain, partner at Cain Development. “Getting to come together, collaborate, and create something that was fully our own made this project incredibly special to us.”
