The 83rd annual Chattanooga Cotton Ball was held in July at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Thirty-nine young women were presented to the Cotton Ball King and Queen at the debutante ball and dinner-dance. This year’s king was Joseph Lewis Card, Jr., founder and chairman of Card-Monroe Corp. He is married to Rebecca H. Card and is the father of Joseph Lewis Card III, Paul Nathaniel Card, Katherine Elizabeth Card Berube, and Joseph Churchwell Card, and is the stepfather of Baylor William Mosier. This year’s queen was Virginia Dade Pettway. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Holmes Patten Pettway, Jr. and attends the University of South Carolina.
