Chic & Sleek

A clean and minimal look with few frills makes this home chic and sleek from top to bottom. A taupe gray Benjamin Moore color called “pismo dunes” covers most of the interior walls and is set off by streamlined furniture, unstained oak floors, and modern accents.

Touches of greenery can also be found through the room in plants and fresh flowers. Sleek and neutral furniture pieces face the fireplace and flat-screen TV hanging above. A minimal, monochromatic look is achieved by light-colored furniture accented with crisp white pillows and tone-on-tone accessories. A zebra print decorative box on the coffee table and leopard print ottoman nearby add a fun flair to the space. A bright white coffered ceiling with a grid pattern and recessed can lighting adds visual interest and a unique detail. A classic black piano adds brilliance to the room.

White countertops and dark, espresso-stained cabinetry make up the kitchen area. Both perimeter and island countertops are made of honed white marble for a soft, clean look and feel. A large center island allows the layout to easily flow and for guests to gather around. Recessed lighting is also used in the kitchen for an unobstructed workspace. Cabinets with flat panels and beveled edges reach to the ceiling for a dramatic look, and also for the added functionality of extra storage space. No space was spared when creating cabinetry, as a small, thin cabinet was created in between the stainless steel refrigerator and the wall, which easily stores items such as wine bottles or food cans. Top cabinets have transparent glass doors to showcase special items. Backsplash tile in the kitchen carries up to the molding, creating sparkling white kitchen walls that are a breeze to clean. Three gray leather stools with low backs and silver nail head trim fit easily under the center island. Unique features like a flat-screen TV over the stove for entertainment while cooking or eating at the island further enhance the room. Large picture windows allow the room to be freshly lit. “You don’t see that a lot anymore,” Dexter White says. “It feels very open and airy which really complements the darker wood used for the cabinets.”
