The only thing better than the smell of freshly baked cookies is the joy of sharing them with loved ones. Here, five locals share recipes from their cookie jars to yours, so you can try them out next time you want to put a smile on someone’s face.

Mike Dunne's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1⅛ cups flour, sifted
  • 1 cup walnuts, crushed
  • ½ cup Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips 
  • ½ cup Nestlé semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, add softened butter, sugars, and egg, and mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the baking soda, salt, and sifted flour. Add the dry ingredients to the wet, and mix well. Fold in walnuts before adding the chocolate chip mixture.
  • Form dough into tablespoon-sized balls, and place on a prepared baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 11-12 minutes.
