Colorful and Inviting

“The homeowner had already done a fabulous job picking out the wall color and the silk fabric on the windows,” recalls interior designer Susan LeSourd of this bright and feminine dining room. LeSourd was tasked with creating the bay window in the room and accessorizing the space to make it flow from the living room which she had just completed. LeSourd did so by playing off of an existing soft citrus wall color. “Because of the intensity of the yellow you’ve got to play off of that somewhere—usually with an accessory, and oftentimes flowers,” LeSourd says. Feminine touches throughout the room are offset by the large wooden dining table. The focal point of the room is an oil canvas portrait, and its colors were used as inspiration for fabrics in the bay area. Covered in a blue velvet fabric, the window seating not only adds a cozy niche but draws the outdoors in as well. Pillows with an organic floral pattern add to the bay window area and complement the portrait. The only floral fabric in the area serves as the favorite finishing touch of both LeSourd and the homeowner.
