A corner can be a great place for houseplants to thrive and add color to any room. Start by choosing plants that grow well in the area’s access to sunlight. Local plant shops can provide suggestions and information, as their employees are knowledgeable about plant types and their maintenance.
If you don’t have a green thumb, faux plants are another great option. To add visual interest to the display, add in plants of different heights or use plant stands. You can also curate a theme by using specific species of plants or playing with different colors, patterns, and shapes of planters.

A small space is the perfect opportunity to create a cozy reading nook for book lovers. Buy (or build!) shelving to store books, pick out comfy or unique seating such as a bouclé chair, papasan chair, or hammock, and get creative with décor and lighting. Stack books both vertically and horizontally to create visual interest, or sort your books by color for a rainbow effect. For final touches, adding accessories like art, rugs, throw blankets, and candles will make the space feel extra cozy while you curl up with a good book.

Small corners are often the right size for a home bar. If you enjoy making cocktails at home, create a unique at-home bar setup with bottles, shakers, accessories, and displayed glassware. There are many options to create your home bar – existing shelving, traditional bar carts, or even repurposed cabinets work well. For wine lovers, incorporating a small wine fridge or a decorative bottle rack makes the space functional and fun, and for cocktail lovers, curating a collection of unique bottles can be a conversation starter.
A corner near the kitchen or dining area is a convenient place for a coffee bar. Start with your preferred coffee maker, then add accessories around it such as a coffee grinder or a unique coffee storage container. To elevate the experience, pour syrups into decorative bottles, display coffee mugs, and put sugar, cinnamon, and other add-ins into beautiful bowls or jars. For a budget-friendly and sustainable storage option, repurpose jars, such as glass condiment jars. Accessorize the area with wall art such as a coffee-themed print, warm lighting to add coziness, or small hanging plants to create
a coffee shop vibe.
