Open to a foyer at one end and a reading nook at the other, this dining room communicates connection. Fourteen-foot ceilings and a deliberate absence of window treatments add to the uplifted aesthetic. “We wanted spaciousness,” says designer Dolores Wolfe. Three steps down from the foyer, the cosmopolitan dining room is a blend of colors and design traditions anchored by the chairs—their tapestry fabric contrasting a contemporary silhouette. A half wall topped with two columns lends an architectural boldness and draws the eyes up. The table’s glass top and faceted pedestal reflect light from the crystal chandelier above. Underneath the table is a new Karastan rug in a traditional Persian design. The wall color is a neutral muslin color. “There wasn’t a real stopping place,” says Wolfe, “so we continued the spaces with the same color in varying shades. The light makes it different in each space and throughout the house.”
