Dining Areas: Retro Vibes

A funky retro vibe finds its sophisticated side in this stylish dining room. After enjoying a cocktail in the adjacent lounge (see page 140), guests move into the harmonizing dining room for dinner. The blue tones and metallic accents from the lounge are carried over, but the palette picks up more grays and silvers to give a subtle sense of elegance. With the exception of a traditional sideboard and dining table, the dining room reflects the distinctive ‘60s look of the lounge. Three arched windows at one end are treated in the peacock blue, while the opposite wall is hand-painted by Michelle Simpson in an alternating dark and light blue chevron pattern. The upholstery on the dining chairs and the patterned rug have a shimmery blue-gray quality. Blue silk threads in the rug pull the palette together. Silver accent pieces complement the room’s blue color aesthetic, and turquoise lamps on the sideboard add a surprising pop of color.
