With a façade that balances classic lodge character and modern refinement, this home built by Don Oscai of OC Construction greets visitors with a crisp, neutral palette punctuated by natural stonework and warm wood accents. Sage-green lap siding softens strong architectural lines, providing contrast to the weight of the stone and timber while adhering to the home’s earth-toned theme. The covered entryway, framed by timber frame beams, sets the tone and offers a welcoming first impression. “As you come up the driveway and catch that first glimpse of the home, it really makes you stop and admire the beauty,” says Oscai. “And when you step inside, that initial impression shifts into something even better – warm, inviting, and completely welcoming.” Framed by manicured landscaping and nestled naturally into the landscape, the home feels grounded – effortlessly blending into its surroundings while still making a memorable statement.
Stepping inside, guests are met with a masterful balance of rustic comfort and clean, intentional design. Soft neutral hues pair with textural details, with soaring ceilings and expansive windows that flood the room with natural light.

In the main living area, the ambience evokes the charm of a quintessential mountain lodge. A grand stone fireplace with a wooden mantel anchors the room, surrounded by earthy tones and organic textures that feel right at home in this lakeside retreat. Vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings add dramatic height, their warm grain echoed by exposed beams that span the space. Wooden bookshelves and custom cabinetry flank the fireplace, adding both function and visual rhythm to the design. “We really wanted this room to feel grounded, with materials that bring the outdoors in,” says Oscai. “It’s a gathering space that feels cozy but still impressive.” Layered with a woven rug, curated nature-inspired art, and a thoughtful mix of rich leather, soft linens, and tactile accents, the room strikes a careful balance – elevated and effortlessly livable.

In the kitchen, originality takes center stage in a seamless fusion of farmhouse tradition and modern sensibility. Custom monochromatic shaker-style cabinetry in a creamy off-white finish pairs beautifully with brushed brass hardware. Paneled appliances integrate effortlessly into the space, while the matching quartzite countertops and backsplash display subtle veining, lending organic movement and cohesion.

A generous island anchors the room, featuring an eye-catching apron-front sink and ample prep space. Upholstered barstools with dark brown bases and soft gray suede seats provide contrast and comfort. Overhead, elegant lantern pendant lights cast a soft, ambient glow that spills into the adjacent dining area. Every corner of this space is carefully considered, with clean sightlines and intuitive flow that encourage both culinary creativity and casual connection.

Two distinct dining spaces ensure flexibility and function without sacrificing style. Just off the kitchen, the main dining room exudes refined rusticity. “The homeowner struck gold with this property,” says Oscai. “The dining room was intricately designed to highlight the stunning view of the water and land while also providing a focal point for when guests first enter the home.” A long, rectangular table is flanked by a thoughtful mix of upholstered and wooden dining chairs, all set atop a muted, patterned rug that softens the space. Oversized windows bathe the room in natural light, while a classic chandelier overhead adds sparkle and sophistication. Earth-toned artwork against stunning wainscoting completes the room, tying the entire palette together with painterly grace.

A second, more casual dining space just steps away embraces a laid-back, lakeside aesthetic. Here, a picnic-style wooden table offers everyday ease, set beneath simple candle-style lanterns for a touch of understated charm. It’s a space designed for slow mornings, sunset meals, and everything in between.

“We designed the primary suite to feel like a true retreat – calm, comfortable, and connected to the outdoors. The goal was to create a space that feels elevated but still relaxed, with textures and tones that promote rest and quiet luxury.” –Don Oscai, OC Construction

Echoing the home’s sophisticated aesthetic, the en suite bathroom offers a serene and functional feel. The spacious, glass-enclosed shower features large-format subway tile spanning the shower walls – accented by a patterned mosaic – while marbled hexagon tilework on the shower floor spills out into the rest of the room.

A custom natural wood vanity brings warmth to the room, topped with creamy marble countertops for a clean, refined finish. Frameless mirrors above the double sinks keep the look minimal and streamlined, while brass fixtures throughout infuse the space with understated elegance. Sconces above each mirror complete the design, casting a soft glow that enhances the tranquil atmosphere.

Designed for year-round enjoyment, the screened-in porch offers a seamless transition between indoor comfort and outdoor living. A stone fireplace identical to the living room’s serves as the heart of the space, topped with a mounted TV for effortless al fresco entertaining. A set of gray outdoor furniture mirrors the interior palette, ensuring visual consistency and comfort. Durable flooring underfoot and subtle shrubbery give the space a relaxed, grounded feel – perfect for lakeside lounging or cozy evenings by the fire.

“This was such a rewarding project because the homeowner had a clear vision from the start,” says Oscai. “Decisions were made quickly and confidently, and that streamlined communication allowed the entire process to run smoothly. That level of collaboration made the entire process more efficient and successful, resulting in a timeless design elevated by modern sensibilities.”
