Juxtaposing elaborate trim work with streamlined silhouettes and unexpected pops of color, this living room takes a contemporary approach to traditional design. With a largely neutral palette, various textures add interest and foster an inviting atmosphere. Layered sisal and wool rugs create a warm and grounding foundation and a white bouclé sofa introduces dimension with visual and tactile appeal, while a streamlined pair of white chairs keeps things in balance. Further balancing the elements of this room, a gilded iron martini table and a side table with a shagreen finish pay homage to the traditional, while the style of the cocktail table rounds out the contemporary design. A pop of cool green on the walls adds vitality that is diffused throughout the space via velvety chenille throw pillows and punctuated by a floral accent. Finally, a sculptural chandelier serves as the room’s focal point with a unique plaster finish and organic shape that is undeniably modern.
