While it gives an illusion of magnificent space, this updated bathroom is relatively small for a master bath. Josh Cooper of JCC Design Studio designed in an optimal way to create a large open area, while still incorporating a walk-in marble shower with glass door, two long vanities and a free-standing soaking tub. The illusion of a large visual space in the bath comes from strategic placement and the white tones and clean lines chosen for the colors and materials. Grecian white calacatta caldia marble was used for the countertops, floor and shower. The swirls of the bold taupe and gold veining in the marble provide visual interest in the pristine white color scheme. Layers of lighting blend together from the LED can lights in the ceiling, softer ambient light from wall sconces over the vanities and a crystal chandelier over the tub.
Future Plans
The owners initially did not want a bathtub anywhere in the home, until a friend wisely reminded them: “You’re going to want one bathtub to bathe grandkids one day.” Since they consider this their “forever house,” they decided to incorporate a bathtub in the master bath. As the bathroom’s design focuses on clean shapes and lines, the designers avoided a traditional claw-footed tub. This modern tub with elegant lines provided the perfect silhouette.
