Rustic and earthy elements serve as the backdrop for unexpected luxury and bright pops of color in this large master bathroom. Knotty alderwood cabinetry in a deep stain makes up the vanity area and textured granite countertops hold jars of beauty essentials. A turquoise upholstered chair sits in front of the vanity, adding a touch of luxe. Wooden chandeliers add to the natural earth-toned look, as does the wooden plank ceiling. Warm glowing sconces flank the doorway which leads to the walk-in shower beyond. Shower walls feature neutral hued tiles, multiple showerheads, and hooks for easy access to towels.
A skylight and picture window bring in a flood of natural light to this elegant master bathroom. A shower and walk-in closet flank a whirlpool tub that is the centerpiece of the design. As part of the homeowner’s desire for a luxurious and elegant space, Calacatta marble is used extensively in the design, both as countertops and as an accent design on the tub’s decorative panels. Separate his-and-her vanities and a steam shower were also added to the space, which nearly doubled in size after renovations.
When homeowners asked Staj Olson from Set in Stone to create a slot canyon inspired shower in their bathroom, he knew he was in for a unique challenge. Starting with fabric to create the free form shape, he then began to apply concrete to the form and sculpt exactly what the homeowners had in mind. The result is the first ever freestanding, slot canyon inspired concrete shower. Paying attention to detail and staying true to nature, the color tones are indicative of something dug out of a hillside, subtly transitioning from a bottom layer of sediment, to a middle layer, and finally a top layer. Although this shower is all about looks, it doesn’t lack in functionality. Sturdy enough to climb on, it’s also waterproof and has no grout or silicone, making mold and mildew a non-issue. Natural slate tile contours to the shower’s curves and a Stikine River sink has curvatures that allow water to flow into the drain like a river, making this bathroom a true reflection of nature.
The goal of this urban master bath was to create functionality for a couple on-the-go. Simple, clean lines define the space and make it less formal than the once-traditional environment. Interior designer Christy Forester Pettus kept the gray and tan color palette used throughout the house to create a consistent, unified home. A Caesarstone countertop in “wild rice” rests atop brushed gray glazed cabinetry and houses a his-and-her sink. The walk-in shower features a floor-to-ceiling glass wall in place of a shower door, and the mosaic oval stone floor is recessed down, eliminating the bulkiness of a large, tiled curb. Removing an oversized jetted tub allowed for better use of space and created room for a spacious master closet to be created.
Silver travertine fills the floor and walls of this bathroom creating a simple, streamlined look. The relaxed, neutral gray tones along with crisp, white layered towels and a plush linen chair give this space the feel of a spa-like retreat. A glass walk-in shower gives an unobstructed view, making the room feel larger. A deep, circular Japanese soaker tub with an air bath feature rests in a corner accompanied by a wood step stool, adding another natural element to the space. White his-and-her sinks complement the curvature of the tub, and the expansive mirror amplifies the space. Each chosen element encompasses the simplistic, relaxing feel that runs through this luxurious master bath.
This elegant master bathroom was inspired by all things French provincial. From the delicate French blue walls and cabinets to the intricately detailed mirror, aspects of the motif feel as though they could be found in the bathroom of Marie Antoinette. A Carrara marble floor and walk-in shower feature a detailed herringbone pattern. Elaborately painted birds on the wall prove that no detail was forgotten. The French motif is repeated throughout the bathroom in the fleur-de-lis drawer pulls and sconces, a luxurious crystal chandelier and sink faucet, and mesh wire used for texture and pattern on the cabinets and vanity chair. Authentic blue cabinets reach to the ceiling and were created with layers of paint – first brown with blue rubbed through, then white on top for a distressed look. The cabinets provide both storage space and visual drama, and display white French inspired sculptures inside. Rounding out the top of the room is blue crown molding with a silver accent which perfectly blends with the wall color for an overall cohesive look.
