Mixed & Matched

Custom Kitchens

Photography by Philip Slowiak

This modernized traditional kitchen is courtesy of a classic cabinetry style, well-defined trim elements, and a gracious island-centric layout that affords ample space for family gatherings. Along three walls, painted cabinets feature inset doors to achieve the traditional aesthetic; updating the look, however, are light quartz countertops and a matching backsplash at the range that have been paired with complementary textured subway tile. A seamless apron-front sink makes doing the dishes a luxurious pastime, and a suite of chef-grade appliances adds to the functionality of the room. Underfoot, wood flooring introduces warmth to balance the space, and four wooden lattice-back barstools cozied up to the island continue the trend. With colorful moments brought in through bright blue accessories and fresh flowers, this kitchen feels harmonious and homey – and ready to host a crowd.
