One of the most important items to begin scrapbooking is the scrapbooking album – this is where your scrapbook lives! When selecting an album, keep in mind the size of the pages. Smaller pages will fill up more quickly, while larger pages require more elements to fill and allow more room for creativity. Some albums
will come with page protectors, or you can purchase them separately.

Scrapbooking paper is the base for your album’s pages and can also help theme and decorate the scrapbook. You can purchase paper on its own or kits that include coordinated paper and embellishments.

While you may be tempted to use any pair of scissors you have, scrapbooking and craft scissors are made for the activity. As you’ll be cutting photos, card stock, and other materials, look for craft scissors that you can reserve for scrapbooking.

To keep photos and other items in place on the page, there are several adhesive options. A glue stick and tape are the most simple, but there are many adhesives options for scrapbooking like glue dots and washi tape.

As you begin to gather scrapbooking items, you will also need a place to store them. Labeled, clear bins help sort items and let you see what is in each container, and folders and binders allow easy organization of various paper items.
