In this home, straight lines and clean finishes allow the spotlight to shine on architectural elements and strategically selected focal colors. With a fresh style, this home’s muted tones and expansive sightlines create a peaceful atmosphere. In the great room, 19-foot ceilings allow for additional sunlight to shine through clerestory windows. Shiplap wraps the walls to over 10 feet high, and French doors open out to a brick patio. Custom built-ins featuring weathered-gray floating shelves flank the fireplace. The fireplace itself is surrounded by marble tile and sports a traditional-style stark-white mantle. With an extra-deep bench cushion sofa and two supple leather armchairs, this room has a relaxed and invitational feel to it.

Clean Lines

Brandon Waters of Waters-Holland Residential Builders says, “We do focus on a lot of detail work, but we try to keep it very simple and clean looking. That’s evident in this home.” Entering the house, most of the main living spaces are within sight. To the left of the front door is an opulent office. Through the foyer the ceiling opens up into the cavernous great room, and to the right of the great room is the kitchen. Red oak flooring was finished on-site with a custom weathered stain that lightens the space. Shiplap wraps the walls from the entrance, leading through to the great room. Straight lines and crisp angles which preserve intriguing sightlines make a striking impression as soon as you step inside.

Beautiful luxury home elegant dining room provincial furniture beaded chandelier multi paned mirrors Chattanooga

A casually elegant dining room, directly across the foyer from the office, keeps it simple with creamy wall colors, provincial furniture, and a beaded chandelier. Antiqued, multi-paned mirrors leaned against the wall mimic the multi-paned windows facing the front of the house. A faded, hand-knotted rug rounds out this room’s pale, pastoral beauty.

Walking through to the kitchen, the color palette lightens further. An uninterrupted sea of milky white levantina marble covers the countertops. The cabinets continue this crisp appearance in solid white, which flows into the white beveled-edge ceramic subway tile backsplash. Doors and drawers close flush with the cabinetry housing to create sleek, clean lines. “We love the inset doors and drawers in the kitchen. That is a very nice feature for both appearance and function,” Waters shares.

Conceptual lantern-style pendant lights float above the spacious island. The island seats three to four comfortably with oversized gray linen bar seats. The gray seats and stainless appliances pick up a hint of gray in the extra-wide, paneled door casing which connects the kitchen to the great room.

To the left of the entryway is an elegant office complete with custom wall paneling. The visual interest created with this elegant detail is continued through the industrial light fixture, windowed French doors, and sumptuous leather furniture. “One of my favorite features in this whole house is the color on the walls in the office. It’s a very rich olive tone, and I like that it continues through the crown molding,” Waters says.

Large, multi-paned windows offer a lush view into the landscaped front yard. The windows in this room were special ordered with raw wood on the inside grilles so they could be painted to match the rest of the room, carrying on the monochromatic effect. Another thoughtful touch is the placement of the outlets on the baseboards to avoid interrupting the elegantly detailed walls. Everything about this room works to create an uninterrupted classic visual.

Beautiful luxury home master bedroom custom paneling quilted bedding draped chandelier Chattanooga

The master bedroom employs more custom wall paneling. However, in this room, the spacing of the wall panels is different from the office. “I really love this room’s paneling because with the larger box in the center, it keeps the walls looking very clean,” Waters explains. This room is finished in a shade of revere pewter and has ample sunlight flooding in from four windows. An upholstered headboard plays off the paneled walls with a tufted texture which is repeated in the bench at the foot of the bed. Quilted bedding leans into the pattern as well. The entire room is an elevated cozy chic style, crowned by a draped chandelier overhead.

In the master bathroom, a large glass-encased shower and bathtub nook share a continuous wall wrapped by marble-patterned basaltine tile in smeared shades of gray and white. The sleek freestanding bathtub features a floor-mounted faucet to maintain stark clean lines and add a sense of drama.

“I love the hint of a rusty-gold tone that comes through in the basaltine tile. We chose the gold pendant light above the freestanding bathtub to accentuate that subtle feature in the tile.”
