Between the decorations and gatherings with friends and family, it’s hard not to feel joyous during those special times of year … and then there’s the food and drinks – festive and tasty tokens that take the celebration to a whole new level. Here, area establishments share several show-stopping cocktails so that you too can impress guests with your cheerful creations.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lemon slice
  • 1 oz. Ole Smoky apple pie Moonshine
  • 0.5 oz. Rebel Yell 100 proof bourbon whiskey
  • 1 oz. homemade cinnamon and clove spiced simple syrup apple cider

Instructions
 

  • In a cocktail shaker, muddle a lemon slice before adding moonshine, whiskey, and simple syrup.
  • Add ice and shake for 30 seconds to combine.
  • Strain into a wine glass with fresh ice and top with apple cider until the liquid is about an inch from the top.
  • Garnish with a frozen apple slice and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Ingredients
  

For the cocktail:

  • 2 oz. Four Roses bourbon
  • 1 oz. spiced apple cider
  • 0.5 oz. apple gastrique
  • 1 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 dropper Ms. Betters botanical foamer

For the apple gastrique:

  • 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup spiced apple cider

Instructions
 

To create the apple gastrique

  • Add all ingredients to a small pot and heat just below boiling, stirring to combine.
  • Once the sugar and salt have been incorporated, simmer on low for 45 minutes.
  • Allow to cool and strain into a container using a fine mesh strainer.

To build the drink

  • Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake until properly incorporated. Remove ice and dry shake before straining into a coupe glass and garnishing with 2 whole star anise pods.
