Local Wedding Venues: Grandview

Christina & Jake Broome: 5.12.12

It was Halloween when Christina saw Jake across the room at a table of her friends. “I knew who he was. He was always really quiet and I’m the opposite, so I thought: why not try introducing myself and see how it goes?”

Six years later, the couple was married in May on Lookout Mountain. A Southern wedding with a modern flair, Christina used a “wash” of cool shades:  navy, gray, silver, and white—with burlap, mercury glass, and chevron accents. For venues, Christina chose Grandview for the ceremony and Rock City’s Pavilion for the reception. Located high atop Lookout Mountain, both offered sweeping views of the Chattanooga Valley.

Christina began the day with brunch at the Chattanoogan, and then she was off to Dream Hair Studio for mimosas and updos. Back to the hotel, Christina met with make-up artist Candace Hernandez, while photographer Daisy Moffatt started snapping photos.

Inside Grandview’s historic English tudor, Christina slipped into her fit-and-flare dress from Boutique Couture. Chattanooga Double Decker buses began to arrive with guests and soon it was time for the big moment: Christina walked down the aisle to her favorite song—“Over the Rainbow”—played by harpist, Christa Wenger.

Afterwards, guests filtered over to Rock City’s Pavilion. Enjoying plates filled with beef tenderloin, stuffed mushrooms, and bruschetta provided by Grandview, parties gathered around tables decorated with floral centerpieces provided by the Grafe Studio. For dessert, three different kinds of artisan breads and an elegant wedding cake from Kimmee’s Cakes were offered. Then it was time to hit the floor for dancing at the Pavilion to a custom playlist provided by Sound Force.

As guests loaded the double decker once more with hands full of Chattanooga-inspired favors—including Double-Cola, MoonPies, and “Rock Candy” from Rock City—Christina and Jake stole away for a private moment on Rock City’s bluff. The new couple shared a kiss overlooking the city—a beautiful, scenic finish to a beautiful Scenic City wedding.
