Engines At Porsche, the only thing that matters is this question: how can we become even better and redefine the limits of engineering? The new 911 is the future with a quantum leap in performance.
Developed completely from scratch, the six-cylinder twin-turbo engines of the 911 Carrera and Targa 4 models offer a high engine speed combined with good modulation of power output. The result is an extra 20 hp of power, an extra 43 lb.-ft. of torque, engine speeds of up to 7,500 rpm, and up to 13% in reduced fuel consumption.
The engine of the 911 Carrera and 911 Targa 4 models reaches 370 hp. The maximum torque of 325 lb.-ft. is available from as low as 1,700 rpm. With Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), the 911 Carrera can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 293 km/h.
The propulsive potential of the engine in the S models, featuring upsized turbochargers and an independent exhaust system, is even more impressive. It generates 420 hp and the maximum torque is a mighty 368 lb.-ft., starting from as low as 1,700 rpm. With Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and Launch Control, the 911 Carrera S sprints to 100 km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds. Top speed isn’t reached until 306 km/h.
Sports exhaust system It’s a first for any Porsche turbocharged boxer engines, and it’s a technical innovation. Available as an option for the new 911, the sports exhaust system features two catalytic converters and a rear silencer which lead into two centrally positioned tailpipes that provide a look more likely to be seen on the racetrack.
Sport Chrono Package The functions of the optional Sport Chrono Package enable an even sportier tuning of the chassis, engine and transmission. A new mode switch on the steering wheel, derived from the 918 Spyder, makes you feel closer to the racetrack. Without your hand leaving the steering wheel, you can choose any of four settings: Normal, SPORT, SPORT PLUS and Custom and adapt the vehicle even more to the way you want to drive.
Brakes The brake system of the new 911 has been upgraded for enhanced stability and braking performance. The 911 Carrera base models are fitted with newly developed four-piston aluminium monobloc fixed calipers with a black anodised finish. The S models are equipped with red sixpiston aluminium monobloc fixed brake calipers at the front and four-piston equivalents at the rear. The brake chambers at the front axle are now made from aluminium. Brake disc diameters are 350 mm at the front, 330 mm at the rear.
Interior The new generation 911 provides synergies between engineering and design, and sportiness and comfort. Among many new features are the new sports steering wheel, an ascending center console, suspension settings, and a two-zone air conditioning system. Five round instruments make a sporty contribution and provide information efficiently and accurately. New Porsche Communication Management (PCM), including the online navigation module and 7-inch multi-touchscreen, is integrated as standard.
