Baked Bliss Macaroni

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb. macaroni noodles
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 stick butter
  • ½ cup flour
  • 3 cups chicken or vegetable stock
  • 1 Tbsp. ground mustard
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 splash Louisiana Hot Sauce
  • 1 splash Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup panko bread crumbs
  • Sliced green onion and chopped parsley, for topping

Instructions
 

  • Cook macaroni in salted water. In a saucepan, melt the butter, add the flour, and whisk to make a roux.
  • Cook for about 1-2 minutes, just enough to cook the flour taste out.
  • Over medium heat, add stock, and whisk until thickened. Add dry spices. Then, add milk, hot sauce, and Worcestershire. Turn off the heat.
  • Add in about ¾ of the cheese, and mix cooked macaroni with cheese sauce. Put in a 9x13-inch pan, and add the remaining cheese on top. Sprinkle panko on top.
  • Bake in a hot oven at 425° for 10-15 minutes until the top is golden brown. Top with green onion and parsley.
  • Optional: You can finish baking it under a low broiler to brown it, but be careful not to burn it.
